Professional Doodlebug, Ava Berman. Serving up comics and cartoons since 2013
I spent my whole childhood being a doodlebug, doodling hearts and rainbows in my father’s study. When I was a teenager, I learned that I could make a profit off of my notebook sketches. So, I packed my bags and colored pencils for a four-year scholarly adventure at the School of Visual Arts in NYC, where I got my BFA in Cartooning and Illustration. I honed a specialty for comic- book art and creating cartoons, with just a dash of animation ambition. The years following have tested my stamina, people skills and love of art, and to this day I’ve remained a faithful doodle bug. Now I freelance while teaching the next generation of artists how to apply themselves. Art for fun. Art for money. Art for life.
Monique Ford
Location: Bedford Village
Medium/discipline: Visual and performing artist, currently working in the medium of painting and dance.
Monique Ford is an award-winning visual and performing artist, educator and curator whose work explores the female form as a sacred archetype of power and nature. An MFA graduate of Pratt Institute, her paintings are held in the permanent collection of the Copelouzos Family Art Museum in Athens, Greece. Based in Bedford Village, NY, Monique balances a robust studio practice with her role as Exhibition Chair for the Katonah Museum Artists’ Association, dedicated to fostering equity and collaboration in the arts. Monique’s work exists at the intersection of sound and motion. With music acting as the catalyst for her creativity, she seamlessly integrates painting and performance into a singular, rhythmic expression. For Monique, these disciplines are not separate, but a unified language that reflects her most natural and intuitive creative state.
